Raspberry Pi’s are handy little machines, but they’re missing a few useful features like POE+ and M.2 support that could really take it to the next level. Luckily, Pineboard is here with a variety of HATs that add killer features, and today we’re looking at the HatDrive! POE+ which solves a problem some hardcore RP users may face.

  1. “Argon ONE M.2 Aluminum Case” _for Raspberry Pi 4…_ I’ve had one for a couple years and they’re pretty slick. (there’s a new version for the Pi 5 too) The whole aluminum case acts as a giant passive heatsink but there’s also a small fan too, only wish it was larger diameter/quieter if say you’re overclocking the snot out of your Pi! 😅 I just stuck a “normal sized” CPU heatsink [AKA massive F’n over-scaled!] on top of the case with some thermal conductive tape and the fan _never_ runs with a stable 2.2mhz overclock! The M.2 NVME daughterboard connects using a USB 3.0 port adapter which means drive speed is limited to ~600 MB/s vs newer NVME drive speeds around 3500 MB/s, that’s nearly 6x faster, but still about 3x faster than your typical MicroSD card speeds of around 150-190 MB/s!

  2. I might be stupid and this is my fist video by this guy but why does he have a giant metal slab with a gazillion ethernet ports 7:27

  3. I disagree with the ending sentiment of “I hope the rpi6 has more stuff”. Part of me hope they never add more features like this.
Not everyone needs POE, and it’d make every board more expensive.
That’s their whole thing, they make stuff so we can make stuff!
I hope they only add things that help us add more things.

    Love the products, great review.
